Matthew 14:20-21 “And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the fragments that remained twelve baskets full. And they that had eaten were about five thousand men, beside women and children.”
Jesus had compassion for this multitude of people. He was healing their sick.
They were out in a desert place and when it started to get late, they needed food.
Jesus said there was no need to send them away. Five loaves and two fishes were available, and He intended to feed them.
When you understand who Jesus is and take a moment to think about the power He has, numbers that don’t add up in worldly thinking, begin to add up.
This tiny meal was multiplied by the Creator of the universe.
What seemed like almost nothing for so many people, became a massive feast with twelve full baskets left over.
Is this not just like Jesus’ ministry in our lives?
We bring very little into our service for Jesus, but He is able to make something of eternal substance.
Our challenge is to trust He can do this, with dinner and with our lives.
