John 6:32-33 “Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.”
Manna, delivered to the people of Israel by God, was just food. They would eat and get hungry again the next day.
Jesus spoke of something different.
He was the bread of life.
When nothing else can sustain us, He will. When we are hungry for something far beyond physical food, He provides.
Men’s lives has been preserved by bread for who knows how many years of human history. It is a staple.
Eternal preservation – eternal life – in heaven with God, is only possible through Christ.
As the people murmured against and lodged complaints about manna, so too with they speak against Christ.
But without Him, no man can have life.
