Genesis 3:1 “Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?”
We may tend to focus on the “Yea, hath God said” portion of this scripture, as we well should. But we may also want to focus on the “subtil” portion.
This is one of the prime tools of the enemy, and explains why we are so often taken in by Satan’s schemes.
They come to us with such a ring of truth, almost to the point of making us unaware of the reality of a given situation.
The enemy will offer a heavy dose of truth with a lie casually mixed in.
Here Eve saw the logic in what the serpent was saying. When she looked at the tree and examined the thought that it could change her view of the world, she was taken in.
When we are attacked in this way, we spend too much time considering the attractive parts. Instead we should recognize the tactics and know we are being deceived.
