Ye heard of us

I Thessalonians 2:13 “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”

The Bible has a transforming impact in the lives of people, precisely because it is the word of God.

If it were simply the word of men, it may have some role in changing people, but like everything man does, would have obvious and undeniable limits.

No spiritual work is ever done apart from the Holy Spirit, who uses the word of God.

In this book, this passage specifically, the Thessalonians received His word – and it made all the difference.

Paul and the others were thankful. Their desire had been to see God working through their ministry. But they knew where the power came from – and it was not from them.

I Thessalonians 2:13 “For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.”
