II Peter 1:21 “For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
The verbal inspiration of God’s word is a key doctrine.
We know from passages like this and others that these men spoke exactly the words God gave them. We trust in them, because they came from Him.
They wrote these words not because they were special men, but because God had given them a special assignment.
Make no mistake, many of the men who contributed to scripture were indeed great men of God, yet it was not their greatness that makes the Bible an inspired book.
The direct and deliberate involvement of God himself in giving every word and every idea that was written makes the Bible special.
We call it God’s word, because it is His divine message to us in written form.
It is true. We can trust it. It came from Him. It is proven true in multiplied prophecies and stands the test of time.
Let’s commit again to living life as though we believe this; meditating upon, studying, memorizing, and proclaiming it!
