John 11:25-26 “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?”
Jesus is speaking with Martha. Martha’s brother, Lazarus, is dead.
She has already told Jesus, that if he had been there, Lazarus would never have died. And he says to her, you’re brother will rise again.
This was an emotional and difficult time for Martha. In the midst of it, Jesus asks “do you really believe?”
It is in these hard times, when a miracle is needed, when there is no hope, when we are at our limits, that Jesus often asks if we believe.
When everything is well, we can answer in the affirmative (almost) without thinking. But at times like these, we have to look deep. We have to test the reality of our faith.
Is He the resurrection and the life? Does He have power to raise from the dead? Do we really have faith in Him?
