Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest.”
Too many of us fail to understand the principle of working as hard for the Lord as we work to build our lives and feed our families. We may separate our working lives from our service in His church, believing we should do our best at the office, offering God whatever is left over.
Many scriptures, as represented in this verse, are clear on our effort level for all service. Whether at home, on the job, or in the church, we should put in a “mighty” effort. Our responsibility is to represent Christ with integrity in every task.
We have a limited amount of time on this earth to represent Him. Doing our very best, striving for excellence, with all humility, in reliance upon His power – that is our mandate. Obedience will mean ending our day with assurance that our labor was worth something.
