Acts 5:28 “Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us.”
The council was attempting to rebuke the Apostles for what they had done, but their rebuke was actually a great compliment. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if our hometown was filled with Bible doctrine? The Apostles were doing exactly as God commanded – and doing it well. Their actions were having an effect on Jerusalem and the council could not tolerate it.
This was a gospel success story – the kind that brings about grave persecution. The truth was getting out and the evil were, as always, attempting to silence it. Satan and his allies cannot afford to have the light expose their evil.
We should not be surprised when the world tries to stop us from expressing a Biblical point of view. Our problem is that sometimes we stifle the truth ourselves. Instead let’s be like the Apostles and fill the area in which God has placed us with His doctrine.
