For all men

I Timothy 2:1-2 “I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.”

This passage goes on to tell us that God would have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

He is concerned for each individual, therefore we ought to be as well.

With this understanding, we can only conclude that the prayer referenced here is not generic in nature. It is broad, but specific. It understands the scope of God’s love, but never overlooks the individual person.

We can show genuine concern for our authorities (and for those they lead) through these prayers.

They will set the foundation for living a quiet and peaceable life – for they will demonstrate our commitment to living rightly before God as a citizen and a Christian.

God wants us to live with this level of care and integrity before all men.
