Hebrews 7:27 “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
This book makes a constant comparison of the old covenant with the new.
In this we see that the law revealed our sin, while Christ, who fulfilled the law, washed it away.
He acts as our high priest, but is like no human priest in history.
He came to the altar free from sin, only to freely accept the mantle of every sin, and be put to death, shedding His own blood to make atonement.
What an astounding concept, that He could atone for all sins in one act of sacrifice!
His life and death satisfied with unchangeable completeness the debt owed to God.
The picture of sacrifice, set for us in the Old Testament, has been fulfilled by the Savior of the New Testament.
That which was so many times Israel’s pattern has been personified in the once-for-all sacrifice named Jesus.
Hebrews 7:27 “Who needeth not daily, as those high priests, to offer up sacrifice, first for his own sins, and then for the people’s: for this he did once, when he offered up himself.”
