Acts 9:13-14 “Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name.”
At first glance, we may accuse Ananias of being wrong in his attempt to inform God. It seems instead he was just being honest about his hesitation. We can find no better friend in times of doubt than our Lord. He is aware of all our frailties and desires that we rely on Him when they reveal themselves.
The problem is not that we are human, but that we trust in our humanity when difficulty comes. We can be certain the Lord would rather have us come to him with our problems than attempt to solve them with our own strength.
In other words, I don’t see this admission as wrong. Ananias was telling God what he knew, apparently in the hope that He would provide reassurance. The fears were unfounded of course, because God had chosen this Saul to be one of His Apostles.
