Wise men had come from the east, led by a star, to see a baby. They asked “Where is he that is born King of the Jews?”
The chief priests and scribes knew the birthplace of the Messiah, Bethlehem, according to Micah 5:2.
News of this King over all kings troubled the king in this account, Herod.
He had bad intentions. And he met with the wise men, asking when the star first appeared.
He sent them to Bethlehem, asking that they send back word about the Messiah’s location.
These men found the Messiah, but warned in a dream, they sent no word back.
The truth of scripture appeared to everyone in this account, but they responded very differently. The wise men with joy and in worship, the king, thinking only of himself and his power, with rage.
The scriptures are true and they reveal wonderful things, but we must have faith and believe.
