I John 5:11-12 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
The idea of eternal life is doubted, refuted, and sometimes mocked in the world. But eternal life is a key component of New Testament doctrine.
Every orthodox Christian believes we can have eternal life through Jesus Christ. We believe this based on scripture.
Elsewhere in the world, there are groups of religious people that insist eternal life exists, but believe it is obtained by other methods.
Perhaps they claim good works will earn it or that membership in a religious organization will guarantee it. Whatever it is, they don’t accept the very plain teaching of this text.
Eternal life is given to us by God. And that eternal life is in His son, Jesus. If we do not have faith in Jesus, we do not have eternal life.
The popular teaching of the world matters very little. God leaves us with no doubt in His word. Eternal life is in Jesus Christ alone.
I John 5:11-12 “And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.”
