John 1:10-11 “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his own received him not.”
The Creator of the world came to His own creation, motivated by love, to provide the way of salvation. When He did, in many cases, He was rejected. This is an astonishing thought.
The people of Israel, God’s chosen people, and those to which the Messiah was promised, did not receive Him. How can this be?
Later in the book of John we have a possible answer. Chapter three tells us that His light reveals the evil deeds of men. And because men love darkness rather than light, they refuse to come to the Light.
Praise God for the fact that some have – and will – come to Him. As sin is revealed, we must seek the only One that can provide forgiveness.
His light is not to be avoided, but embraced! He is our only way to God.
Those who receive Him, by faith, are given power to enter God’s family. And His family will spend eternity rejoicing and praising Him.
