Colossians 2:6-7 “As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
This passage paints a picture of spiritual health and stability.
After having received Christ as Savior, our mandate is to walk with Him.
This daily walk becomes a foundation on which we can stand. It provides roots for our life and firm ground within which we can grow.
We follow the teaching of God’s word and the example of leaders living out that word by faith.
We abound in this teaching, remaining thankful for our salvation and the opportunity we have to be a disciple.
This kind of life will contrast and sometimes conflict with the world around us.
It will also contrast with our life before Christ.
We remember our lives built on sand, but thank God for a new life built on the solid Rock.
Now the rains may fall and the floods may come, and we, because of our foundation, can stand firm.
