Isaiah 51:6 “Lift up your eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth beneath: for the heavens shall vanish away like smoke, and the earth shall wax old like a garment, and they that dwell therein shall die in like manner: but my salvation shall be for ever, and my righteousness shall not be abolished.”
Those who follow God and read His word may not have any difficulty imagining the destruction of the earth and heavens.
We see the sin that surrounds us, understand the calamity it causes, and know we have a just and righteous God.
Though death and judgement are sure to come, we should take heart in being reminded that salvation is forever. And that God’s goodness will never end.
Those things we see with our eyes and feel with our hands today are passing away. But there is a vast and quite real world beyond that should occupy our thoughts instead.
Eternity is before us. Jesus has made this possible. And our salvation is secure.
We should remember this and stand every day on a firm foundation.
