James 2:8-9 “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”
In the age of the internet and social media, it would be wise for us not to give special hearing to famous preachers, yet ignore our own.
This is the kind of respect of persons of which we are often guilty today.
We should also be careful to see every person the way God sees them, no matter their wealth or status.
Whether we realize it or not, this is a very big problem in the world, and in the church.
God knew that we would choose to hold the rich and influential in high regard, while avoiding or ignoring the poor or the infirmed or the different.
We should think hard about how we approach one person as opposed to another.
We should observe and make note of our tendencies, then alter our thinking intentionally to conform to the spirit of this passage.
James 2:8-9 “If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well: But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.”
