Matthew 27:1-2 “When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.”
Many of the things recorded just before and just after this passage are unjust.
People are taking actions against Jesus that are evil. There is betrayal, false accusation, a sham trial, and a totally unjustified sentence.
With all of this in mind, one might be confused into thinking that there was some mistake. But there was none.
Jesus was committed to doing God’s will. His mission was to come to earth, die in our place (and for our sins), then raise from the dead.
He was the perfect, sinless, sacrifice. The One who’s blood would not just cover, but cleanse all sin.
And there was no mistake because He took every step willingly.
At any moment, capable of calling a legion of angels to deliver Him, but never doing so.
They led Him away, but He went willingly.
