Luke 21:3-4 “And he said, Of a truth I say unto you, that this poor widow hath cast in more than they all: For all these have of their abundance cast in unto the offerings of God: but she of her penury hath cast in all the living that she had.”
As Jesus watched those casting their gifts into the treasury, he noticed this woman contributing two mites.
Speaking strictly in financial terms, this was far less than the rich men who were also giving.
They took offerings from purses that had plenty left over. She gave everything.
Therefore, as Jesus says, she gave more than all.
Her trust was in God – it had to be – for she had nothing left.
But those who give with hearts fully committed to Him are never left worse off. He is altogether faithful and sees the motive behind every gift.
We must take a lesson from this woman, giving sacrificially, to please God and finance His work, fully trusting in Him, never to be seen of others.
