I Thessalonians 2:4 “But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak; not as pleasing men, but God, which trieth our hearts.”
Paul, Silas, and Timothy – in their ministry to the Thessalonians – were described as being “put in trust” with the gospel.
If we are Christ’s disciples, we have this same stewardship ministry. Our assignment is to proclaim His good news, living in a way that supports its truth.
After His resurrection, Jesus went to be with His father, leaving us to do a Great Commission work in His stead and on His behalf.
If we speak, we are speaking as stewards of His message. Our aim must be to please God, not to please men.
He sees everything we do and hears everything we say. As stewards, we are held accountable.
It is not good enough that we are simply “seen to be” faithful. Our hearts will be tried, by the only One who has a comprehensive and accurate understanding of our motives.
As His ministers, we have a serious responsibility, but also a wonderful privilege.
