John 4:28-29 “The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men, Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?”
The woman in this story has come face to face with Jesus.
He made her an offer of “living water,” “a well of water springing up into everlasting life,” so that she would “never thirst.”
He knew that she was thirsty for something far beyond the water she could draw from Jacob’s well.
He made this clear when He revealed His inside-knowledge about her life story.
And when He told her He was the Messiah, she knew He was telling the truth.
This is why her priorities in life changed immediately, leaving her waterpot behind, she made haste to inform others. Asking a question that she had already answered herself: “is this not the Christ?”
Her experience with Jesus changed her – and she wanted others to have the same experience. To know the One who knows all things. To have spiritual thirst satisfied, so they would never thirst again.
