Matthew 19:4-5 “And he answered and said unto them, Have ye not read, that he which made them at the beginning made them male and female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?”
For the modern reader, it may seem Jesus is addressing two controversies in this passage. But there is no controversy.
God created two genders: male and female. And He created marriage, which is between one man and one woman for life.
The Creator of the universe set these things in place. He has the only authoritative voice.
Men will develop their arguments, opposing Him, but they have no standing. He is just and over all.
In the context, Jesus is answering a question from Pharisees who came testing Him.
Believers may face questions on these topics, from those who would test us.
Jesus gave Biblical answers. Those we find outlined in both old and new testaments.
Our answers must be from the Bible too. It has been given to us by God, for such a time as this.
