Colossians 1:3-4 “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, Since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus, and of the love which ye have to all the saints,”
I wonder what other believers hear about us? I wonder if our faith has been on display to the extent that another person would even notice and pass it along? And our love for the brethren; is it remarkable? The faith and love of the Colossians made its way to Paul.
The Christian life is one of recognizable characteristics. Those that are uncommon in the world. Faith is displayed when we take action based on God’s command, when it seems to make no sense, or is contrary to worldly ideas.
Love is shown in giving and selflessness. Thinking of and doing for others when we stand to receive nothing in return. These traits, especially when seen together, provide a light that cannot be hid. This light, because it properly reflects His attributes, always brings glory to God!
So Paul was praying diligently for these believers – and they needed it. Even in a state of obedience and fidelity, we need strength to press on.
